Getting your Z's

Monitoring and improving sleep patterns can positively affect your business day.

Nothing makes for a more difficult day of work or play than not getting a good night’s sleep. Yet, many of us still suffer from either insufficient sleep, poor overall sleep quality, or both. It’s no secret that a number of factors such as caffeine, stress, alcohol, and eating before going to bed can contribute to poor sleep. Yet, each individual’s correlation between sleep and these lifestyle activities is relatively unknown.

Analyze this

Enter the new ZEO Personal Sleep Coach and SmartWake Alarm Clock. This nifty setup begins with a high-tech headband that picks up electrical impulses in your brain while you sleep. The data is transmitted wirelessly from the headset to a bedside unit that functions as a virtual personal sleep lab using algorithms and artificial intelligence to interpret the data and analyze your sleep.

Upon awakening, a summary of your night’s sleep appears on the face of the bedside display in an easy-to-read graphical representation. You can review additional details with the simple push of a button as well. In minutes, you can see the amount of REM (Rapid Eye Movement), deeper, sleep you had versus non-REM as well as the duration of sleep and how often you woke from your sleep – even slight awakenings that otherwise go unperceived.

REM smarts

Awakening several times during non-REM sleep can cause as much grogginess as awakening during your deepest sleep. For this reason, the ZEO bedside display incorporates a SmartWake alarm that lets you choose a 30-minute time range from which to be awakened. Only after you are in that range and transitioning out of deep sleep will the alarm sound.

Among the summary items displayed is the unique ZQ sleep score (like an IQ score for sleep). This ZQ number is an overall sleep quality rating that takes into account time spent in different depths, or quality, of sleep as well as duration of sleep overall. The benefit here is that you can compare different nights’ sleep quality scores and look for trends in your activities or diet that may contribute to achieving a better or lesser quality night’s sleep.

Sleeping coach

For a more in-depth analysis of your sleep, the data can be uploaded from the bedside display to your Personal Sleep Data Web site. Here, the sleep data can be stored, studied, reviewed, and compared to other nights’ sleep.

Additionally, you can receive expert advice on your sleep patterns and get tips for improving your sleep. The ZEO Personal Sleep Coach comes with six months of personal sleep coaching; additional six-month periods can be purchased for $99.
Understanding sleep patterns and what affects them is among the first steps to improving the quality of your sleep and your day. Try the new ZEO today and see the difference a great night’s sleep can make.

ZEO Personal Sleep Coach is neither a medical device nor a medical program and is not intended for the diagnosis or treatment of sleep disorders. If you suspect that you may have a sleep disorder, consult your physician.
